Bless Jerry Nadler’s heart—or whatever’s under all those chins. Nadler, the least welcome person at an all-you-can-eat buffet, put himself in the spotlight at a Congressional hearing Tuesday. He was dispensing self-defense wisdom as if he’s a crack legal expert. In reality, he’s no more someone you want to take personal defense advice from than Joe Biden.
Nadler waddled into a hearing and wheezed and whined about ICE agents as “masked hoodlums” and how you “might be” justified in drawing your blaster and shooting at the federal agents. Only if you mistake them for kidnappers, of course. Because nothing says “sound legal advice” like a gun-hating New York City pol telling people it’s okay to get yourself shot for following your misguided beliefs while carrying a gun that Jerry would vote to ban in a New York minute.
Let’s be crystal clear, folks…shooting a law enforcement officer who’s doing their job isn’t “self-defense”— it’s a one-way ticket to the morgue. When you pull a weapon on police — local, state, or federal — they can use force to stop you. And they will. What’s more, they’re usually bringing more guns, better skills, body armor, and last, but not least, lots of friends with long guns to the party.
I can already hear the keyboard warriors typing their “what ifs” like a toddler demanding ice cream at 3 a.m. Save it. The reality is simple: If you pull a gun on a cop, the best-case scenario is you’re getting bracelets and a decade or more in prison to think about your poor decision-making.
More realistically? You’re going to become a bullet magnet, and incoming rounds have the right of way. Do you remember that Florida sheriff’s classic line when asked why deputies lit a guy up 68 times? “Because we ran out of bullets.” Or the poetic follow-up: “We shot him so many times you could read the New York Times through him.”

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) argued Americans would be “justified” shooting ICE agents if they believed they were “masked hoodlums” attacking them — and not one of the government’s “goons,” as he put it.
The Democratic lawmaker made the eyebrow-raising statement during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.
“If you were attacked by a masked person, you might think you were being kidnapped. You would be justified in shooting the person to protect yourself,” Nadler said.
He said President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration has spurred “fascism in our streets.”

‘Ellettsville resident Ryan Hughes, 42, was arrested Friday afternoon following a Bloomington protest against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the city’s use of Flock Safety surveillance cameras. He was accused of pointing a firearm at and pepper spraying people passing the protest.
After gathering at City Hall, walking to Sample Gates and marching down Kirkwood Avenue, about 100 protesters gathered outside the Monroe County Courthouse, chanting and holding signs that called for ICE to be abolished and condemned Bloomington’s contract with Flock.
Hughes was arrested on four charges that allegedly occurred near the protest. The charges included intimidation and pointing a firearm, level 5 and 6 felonies, as well as two battery charges, class A misdemeanors, Bloomington Police Department Captain Ryan Pedigo said in an email.
At about 2:15 p.m., officers responded to a complaint near the Walnut Street and Kirkwood Avenue intersection next to the courthouse. A 47-year-old man claimed he was trying to turn onto Walnut Street, but a protester, later identified as Hughes, had blocked the vehicle in front of him by standing in the middle of the street, Pedigo wrote. The man said he tried to drive around the vehicle, but the protester stepped in front of him.
The man reported Hughes pointed a shotgun at him and said, ‘I’ll f**k you up,’ causing the driver to ‘fear for his life,’ according to the email. The man also alleged other protesters hit his vehicle and caused damage.
Hughes was described as wearing dark clothing and a black mask, carrying a red and white megaphone, a shotgun with a pistol grip and a handgun strapped to his chest. Another person who called BPD reported witnessing Hughes point a gun at passing vehicles.
Yeah, he got arrested.
Hughes is (allegedly) lucky he was still alive so he could be arrested.
