In January 2024, my wife and I agreed to host a birthday party for our friends’ 2-year-old in our child-free home. The scene was chaotic and joyful, with several young kids running around and scattering croissant crumbs on our sofa while their parents attempted adult conversation over mimosas.
Inevitably, the moment arrived when a child knocked over a drink on our coffee table. It was an old West Elm design with a panel on top and a storage area underneath. The spilled beverage was dripping into the seams, so a crowd of parents rushed to open the table and mop up the liquid pooling within. The first thing they saw when they lifted the panel was a padlocked gun case, helpfully identified by the Smith & Wesson user pamphlet sitting on top, which was now soaked in seltzer.
To be perfectly honest, I’d forgotten I had the gun. Ever since my wife and I moved into a place with more closet space, we rarely used the storage capacity of the coffee table. I was reminded of the firearm in my living room only when someone brought up the topic of recreational gun use—which, in our queer, left-leaning urban social circles, was next to never.
But there I was, facing a crowd of these wide-eyed friends, who were politely dabbing the seltzer off my gun. They were clearly shocked. I choked out some nervous laughter and assured them that the case was locked, the gun inside had another padlock, both keys were hidden, and I had no ammunition in the house. I then explained why I owned the gun, which I will also share with you shortly, and everyone made a few jokes at my expense. They finished cleaning up the mess and got back to watching their kids ruin my house.

There is a lot wrong with this person…but This! This exactly for the mindset of liberals with guns and the reason why their claims (or similar) of “I’m a gun owner so I support the second amendment, and that gives me an authority to decide what gun laws and the second amendment should be for you.” are so bogus and fake. A gun is basically an imagination-exercise-sex-toy they keep hidden and are embarrassed about it when its discovered so they have to blurt out some reason to justify. If you are embarrassed about, or make excuses for, or feel compelled to explain to others, or use the exercise of a constitutional right as a prop to justify, why you are exercising a constitutional right or think it gives you some moral authority to decide if others may exercise the second amendment, then you do not understand the constitutional right and how to exercise the constitutional right. Like Cackles and Walz and this liberal from the article “I’m a gun owner, but… – these people are not not ‘gun owners’ or people who ‘exercise’ the second amendment, they are unstable insecure prop users in their sad little play of life.

Let’s see: it forgot it had a gun, had 2 locks, keys were hidden, no(zero) ammo in the house. Yep all of that adds up to it really didn’t have a gun but a chunk of metal or paper weight as burce bogle stated. What a bad/dangerous joke this it was/is.
If they can’t recognize a locked box then all your follow on explanation fell on stupid ears. You don’t have to defend yourself. Ask the “men” why they didn’t want to defend their family and/or home.
This liberal also has to show yet another issue with left wingers – the lack of logic and use of confirmation bias to tell lies to color perception that satisfies them they then see as truth.
For example, from her missive at the link there is this:

This is a lie, and here is why its a lie…
To substantiate this, this liberal writer includes a link to a left wing ‘media’ source article which is titled to indicate such a statement. But its not until later in that article we find out where this statement really came from – its from an anti-ICE protestor named ‘Skye’ who claimed to be a marine corp veteran and claims that an agent said ‘…this is why we killed that lesbian bit*ch.’
The claimed statement supposedly from a federal agent never happened, Skye, it turns out, is not a marine corp veteran.
There are these little subtle ‘sprinklings’ of this ‘lie’ issue with left wingers all through this liberals missive. A hint here and there, just enough to ‘sway perception’, for example, this:

She implies/says all this “anti-LGBTQ+” targeting and violence is from “Right-wing and white-nationalist” and “anti-LGBTQ+” – what she does not tell you is that in her claimed time frames over 97% of that violence ‘hate crimes’ against LGBTQ+ was from LGBTQ+ (including those in the ‘LGBTQ+ community supporters’) people against LGBTQ+ people.
Then there is this example:

And she links to an article that writes about it in more recent context concentrating on just the ones that identify as opposite their birth sex. She focuses on mass/school shooters but what she does not tell you is that trans killers and violent trans are pretty much common now, and (collectively) as a demographic proportion of population, commit violent acts (including murder, and especially sex-crimes where ~50% of the trans population has a sex-crime conviction) at a rate more than 100 times greater than any other demographic proportion of population (and more than 90% of it is trans-on-trans or trans-on-others in the LGBTQ+ community – for example, its pretty common now for a trans kid in a family to act violently towards other family members that support them and its hidden from view because it either is not reported or when it is reported to police its charged under a ‘domestic violence’ type charge and the trans part is not revealed). Then she and the linked article do not take into account the ‘non-binary’ which are also trans.
Her whole missive is full of these little ‘sway perception lies’ – this is typical left wing.

If trans violence includes threats by trans to commit violent acts, including threatening murder and rape and child abduction and child rape, in this authors time frame of 2024 to date, there have been more than 7,000,000 recorded instances of videoed threats of such by trans people (including identifying as non-binary trans) on social media thus if threats constitute violence those threats alone for this time frame are more than 7,000,000 acts of violence by trans people.
The fact of relying on FBI records is a trick used by the LGBTQ+ community to deceive. Its a trick because to be included in FBI stats and reports certain conditions have to be fulfilled – for example – there has to have been an arrest AND prosecution AND conviction, then the information has to come from a jurisdiction that reports ALL information to the FBI and only ~40% of the country does. But if we start to look at the reporting alone, with arrests, even if there is no conviction (i.e. due to a diversion pre-trial or probation, sometimes a dismissal on technical procedural grounds, a victim recants out of fear of retribution, victim leaves town thus not around to testify, or in some blue jurisdictions sometimes victims threaten by city with prosecution to keep them from moving forward with prosecution, etc…) but was a prosecution effort, if we do that we find more than 18,000,000 incidents (a lot of them multiple incidents perpetrated by a single individual) of trans (including perpetrators identifying non-binary trans) perpetrator ‘hands-on’ violence from June 2021 to present day.

Clarification: Many individual trans people have committed multiple acts of violence over time, especially against others in the LGBTQ+ community. Many of these are not known publicly because the media doesn’t cover them. Like, ~50% of trans in the country have sex-crimes convictions and it wasn’t known until a specific study focused on that area of crime was done.
Its like criminal gang member crime – many of the individuals in gangs have committed multiple acts of violence over time and these are not known publicly because the media doesn’t cover them. Its not until specific studies or research is done that this becomes known.
To add:
Just in the sexual violence area alone from June 2021 to present: Over 68% of trans commit acts of forced sexual violence (rape, sometimes referred to as Intimate Partner Violence [IPV]) against LGBTQ+ people, and 47% of trans commit acts of forced sexual violence (rape) against non-LGBTQ+ people and more than half of those are committed against children age 14 and younger.
I am disappointed that you’d forgotten the gun, stored in the coffee table in your living room. Locked or not you should know where all your firearms are. And you were having kids over? You are not acting like a responsible gun owner. I do not want my grandkids at your house.
