I have my grandpas Model 31, through my dad. My dad was born in’43, so this gun has seen some use. They were a tool back then, no different than a pitchfork.

i had the choice of a humpback or a franchi ou as a kid. the franchi was really light, the auto so much fun. never did decide between them.
settled on ithacas. and a red label.
i find the ball bearing reference intriguing, if true i'll look for a 31 in 20.

We had a wide variety of shotguns in our house as a kid. Dad was a bird hunter and waterfowler. Model 12, model 17, 870, Browning A5, Ithaca. The list goes on. It's safe to say that I was spoiled as a kid.

The model 12 was another gun that would open itself if you pointed the muzzle up and hit the slide release. It was so slick that dad, my brother and I could shoot 3 rounds faster from the pump than the A5. The semi auto was regulated to cycle just so fast. Dad respected the A5. But he was a pump loyalist.
