140 dB SPL (sound pressure level) is pretty loud and can cause instant and permanent hearing damage even with short term exposure.

actually what HUXWRX says is: “The HUXWRX Test Rifles shall not exceed 140 dB ten shot average sound pressure level at shooter’s ear during barrel life.”
