My Dad was raised in Chicago’ South Side during the depression. A couple of lessons he hammered into me:

1. You never lose the fight you avoid.

2. You never know how far the other person is willing to take it. If you’re thinking a shoving match and they’re thinking kill the SOB— you’re going to get stomped into the ground.

I was taught at a young age that flipping someone off is an invitation to fight. Don’t flip someone off if you aren’t ready to engage in a fight.

1 Oct 2024 – 1 Oct 2025: Knives were used by perpetrators to either threaten, or threaten then cut or stab, or without threatening suddenly cut or stab, sometimes resulting in death, in attacks against victims over ~1,800 times daily across the United States. 67% of the perpetrators are black females ages 16 – 30 using a kitchen knife.

Said the attacker threatened to shoot her then pulled out a knife (from purse).

Little puzzling on that. Did the attacker actually say gonna shoot her or gonna stab her?

I think you’re missing the point here. Farnum’s Four Rules of Stupid – “Don’t go to stupid places with stupid people at stupid times and do stupid things” – needs a fifth Rule of Stupid, or, maybe, it’s a footnote: “Inherent Stupidity is God’s way of thinning the herd.”

Were it not for the application of Inherent Stupidity – and it’s endemic, especially among some groups – the daily 6 PM “news” broadcast would be 4 minutes long, and 3 of them would be the weather forecast.
