I agree with some, but certainly not all of the perspective that has been shared here. What they appear to ignore is that knowing that ‘when seconds count, the police are only minutes away’ and ‘It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6’, the overall tenor of many of these seven is for people to take the chance, that they should NOT err on the side of their own safety and well-being, and roll the proverbial dice on the situation de-escalating somehow on its own. The picture of our current society as it appears to now exist, is a very sad and unfortunate picture. A corollary lesson from what’s put forth in these seven is that ‘you better make damn sure things are “cleaned up” completely so that this God forsaken system our society has devolved into doesn’t punish you for being in the right against a criminal’.

You aren't very bright. You don't think I can hear and/or see a car coming from a million miles away on a quiet, empty county road and get out of the way? Furthermore, you don't see a problem with a careless (or entitled ahole) driver that can't see a large object running on the side of the road and slow down and/or make some space? You're both dense and insufferable.

“Pre-dawn” means low light or no light at all. Running on the road in the dark, is an exercise in your own fool hardiness and lack of sound judgment. You are literally begging to be hit by a vehicle.
Lots of motorists “despise” cyclists because they don’t obey road laws and rules, are insensible, and insist on blocking whole lanes while they dawdle along at 10 mph. They act “like they own the road” that motor fuel tax pays for.
