It is silly. But it is an accurate portrayal of the “heads I win, tails you lose” bind of using force in self-defense in many antagonistic jurisdictions.
But I would say that you’re best aided by ensuring your weapon is as effective as possible and you’re as competent with it as possible.

I have heard the argument that you should carry a garishly colored (pink, teal?) gun. Sometimes people make false charges that you threatened them with a gun, with the inevitable description of it being black. If you pull out a pink My Little Pony special, the officer will wave you on. Yeah, I’m skeptical too.

yes, no question whatsoever. any juror would enjoy his time convicting someone of self defense more if such a device were part of the evidence. especially if it were passed around for inspection.
