I waited for a long time to purchase the 30X, Get Home Bag model. The gun finally came in from my distributor. Disappointed was not a strong enough word. I am not a fan of the new trigger. The gun's mag. release, barrel release and slide did not function properly. There were sharp edges that were not user friendly. In short the workmanship from the Tenn. plant was sub standard at best. The finish on the mag. left a lot to be desired and showed some corrosion. I have owned the 3032 model and find it superior to the 30X. The Tenn. plant's quality control must have been sleeping to let this one out of its factory. I was hoping they would produce this one in Italy and I am sure the quality control would have been up to par. I was hopeful the workmanship would have been comparable to the 80X I purchased last year but that was not the case. I would past on this one. The extra round is not worth the grief.

All Tomcat's aren't created equal.
I recently bought one of these but it did not have the threaded barrel or large sights. I don't why. It was a 30X Silver/Black W Poly Grips. Looked good and I purchased because it had a push button barrel release. That's where my excitement stopped. I took it to the range and the trigger broke. I have never had that happen before. I sent it to Beretta in Tennessee and they fixed it. Ok, fine and good. Then I get an email from Beretta that the barrel hinge screw MAY be faulty so I sent it back to Beretta for the second time and they fixed it again, they said. The barrel still wiggles a bit. I went back to the range today and the gun won't feed properly and or consistently with me trying 3 different kinds of ammunition. It would stovepipe too. I have had better reliability from my Kel-Tec PMR30 and we all know how reliable Kel-Tec's are from the factory. I wanted to use this 30X for personal protection but if it can't fire 2 or 3 rounds out of 8 without a problem then it a good way to get killed. I have an older Tomcat and a Bobcat too that function pretty good. The problem is the barrel levers are too difficult to manipulate. I have the Beretta 81, in 32 ACP, that is a fantastic gun. It is, unfortunately bigger and more difficult to conceal. It was Italian made which may the reason it just works flawlessly. The same thing I can say about a Beretta 84BB that I have and in .380ACP. In my humble opinion, while the new concept is appealing, it's my opinion that these guns are just junk for the price. $500+ FFL + tax + Shipping. I do not recommend buying this product or any American made Beretta when I can buy a small Canik Mete MC9 Mini Compact 9MM, 15 Round capacity for about $100 less. It grieves me to say this since I have had about every model of Beretta in the past and been mostly satisfied with them.

Depends on where you buy. Try sgammo.com. Also some other online options. PPU FMJ works fine in most guns and typically runs less than $21 a box. Which is cheaper than most 38 special.

Geoff,

True, but with manufacturers seemingly on a roll to reintroduce the .32 as a defensive carry caliber, who knows what the future will hold? Personally not a big .32 fan (although I did used to own a Walther PPK, lo those many years ago, which I loved for its size. Still not my favorite carry caliber, but if I were a small person? With the newer .32 defensive rounds, it's certainly more of a viable option than it used to be. And as numbers increase, basic Economics says supply will increase, and then prices will go down.
