I had a similar experience many years ago. Divorce. If that’s not an option for you, have you taken her to the range? Perhaps when she realizes that firearms aren’t living-breathing creatures which “go off” on their own she may change her fear. Who knows, she might even change her attitude and finds some enjoyment in shooting. Good luck.

If you’re already proficient with firearms then take her to the range. Maybe rent some 22s and start slowly. As she becomes familiar with guns a lot of unknowns aren’t something to fear.
If you aren’t as familiar with guns then take a very basic beginner class together.
If none of that works then she’s just going to have to trust you. You must store them properly in regards to children etc but buy the guns anyway. You tried. Be responsible. Good luck.
