Also that Louisiana (I believe) passed a State law after Katrina that guns could not be confiscated in the event of an emergency situation.

The law They used to get away with this breech of the Constitution is very clear and follows the 2nd amendment unlike this sheriff!
I copied this directly from the Law the used to to get away with this. 88.470 i think

“Nothing contained in this chapter shall be construed to authorize the seizure, taking, or confiscation of firearms that are lawfully possessed, unless a person is engaged in a criminal act.”

Intentional or miss guided, it is clear that he is not a person that should be enforcing any laws, during an emergency situation. It disheartens me that the law enforcement take the situation as light hearted “banter”.

I don’t know the chief, he may be the nicest guy in the world. However his conduct has demonstrated he is not the guy you call for help

Passive voice is the devil. If there was an “error”, someone committed it. If there was a “mistake”, someone made it.

The proper response is to own it and apologize for it.
