In reply to uncommon_sense. One day I might do something for being aestheticly pleasing beyond a cerecoated barrel that was a custom length/caliber to begin with. Till then will just be the shiny large magnums in stainless.

I like the idea of a “barbecue” gun with ornate markings, gorgeous bluing (uneven and opalescent finishes which change colors depending on light angle), and beautiful wood components. Such a firearm is a work of art and worthy of display in some manner.

While such a firearm is also fully functional and thus useful for righteous self-defense, using it for self-defense carries significant risk that it ends up in an evidence locker for a potential criminal trial. I would hate for it to be in an evidence locker for months/years–or even worse destroyed after a trial.

(In case you are not aware of the “barbecue” gun concept, the idea is that you have a beautiful handgun that you break out during a social gathering barbecue in order to share its beauty with your guests.)
