In California's gun owner data ~~breach~~giveaway, the victims weren't just CCW holders. The DROS (Dealer Record of Sale) is the complete registration for each firearm sold - basically California's 4473. And the FSC (Firearm Safety Certificate) is the required permit before the transferee can submit a DROS.

Tennessee and I believe New York State both had news papers that published gun owners information. The result was the authors of those stories received death threats, as well as visits to their homes. By angry gun owners.
