I wouldn’t say that bit about being happy to sign a complaint because if you decide not to then the police can mail you for lying. I’d keep it simple: “that man attacked me, I was in fear for my life, I think I need an ambulance, I’m invoking my right to a lawyer and my right to remain silent.” Then remain silent. Massad Ayoob is a great man but he’s not a lawyer.

I pray I never have to use my piece in self-defense, but will be glad I have that option.

I plan on keeping it simple. I was attacked and feared for my life, I will be happy to sign a complaint after I have spoken to my lawyer.

A lot will depend on where your defensive gun use took place. Here in central Florida, I’m not expecting the same treatment I would get in less 2A friendly environments…

It’s the job of the D.A. to determine who can be released to go home.”

Scary mindset you just might have to deal with when the uniforms show up after your DGU.
