I think the problem is that the Republican Party has spent so much energy supporting law enforcement that there just isn't enough noise to make the Trump administration understand that this should be a priority. I doubt it's even on their radar, unlike the Department of Education, which Republicans have been against since its inception. We have to make the administration and Republican elected officials understand why this should be a priority. Those people don't read gun blogs.
