Nothing in government happens overnight. Changes made suddenly at the stroke of a pen can be undone by he stroke of a pen. As Andrew Breitbart said, “Politics is downstream of culture.” The focus should not be on destroying as much as possible as fast as possible, but instead on making the changes popular and accepted by the dominant culture. Trump is doing great things, but his *real* achievement will be in moving the Overton window and setting things up so that MAGA Republicans are dominant for at least another two full election cycles. That will make the changes meaningful. What I care about are ATF policies in 2032. If MAGA is a flash in the pan, it doesn’t matter if the ATF exists or not — someone will have the same function. If MAGA succeeds, then it doesn’t matter if the ATF exists or not, because it will, as the meme goes, function as a convenience store rather than a regulatory agency.
