Stay at home, telework, have everything delivered to your front door, trust no one (not even yourself), dispose of all weapons (or anything that can be made into a weapon…even body parts), Change your tax status and declarations so that all income is to be considered as taxes withheld, apply for every welfare program, become “grey person” in every way, hope for a long live.

One of my former coworkers was arrested by LAPD and charged with r@pe based upon a claim by a disgruntled ex-girlfriend. Held for three weeks in jail because he couldn’t afford the bond. Finally released and charges dropped only because the woman was told by the prosecutor assigned to the case she’d have to file a detailed statement and possibly appear in court, leading to the woman admitting she made up the claim as a stupid way of trying to hurt my coworker for breaking up with her.

My coworker returned to work a “free” man, but the mere presence of the arrest and charges on his record (regardless of being dropped, and the absence of any conviction) disqualified him from a variety of things he used to do. He drove a company vehicle, for example, but the company’s insurance carrier dropped him due to the arrest. This led to other things, and he eventually left the company after a dozen years of employment.

A wrongful arrest will follow you and screw up your life, even if it doesn’t end up in any conviction. That’s a game LE can play to squeeze people.
